Brian Louw
Lead Pastor
Born in South Africa, Brian grew up during the country's sad history of apartheid. This experience gave him a heart for all people, acknowledging that all people are created in the image of God; all people are equal and equally in need of grace and forgiveness. Brian has been in full-time pastoral ministry since 2007, which he moved into after working for a decade in the Information Technology sector. Brian's hobbies include running, reading, and appreciating good coffee. Married to Cindy since 2000, they have two children and feel blessed to call White Rock/South Surrey home. Hannah Juras
Youth Pastor
Hannah is our resident Broadway buff and Youth Pastor. With a degree in youth work from Columbia Bible College in 2014, she's been a Youth Pastor since 2014 - and joined the White Rock Baptist Church team in 2020. She's currently working on a Master of Arts in Theology specializing in Next Generation Ministry from Acadia Divinity College while attending as many concerts as she can pack into her schedule. She's got a bright yellow office - so she's easy to find!

Lisa Streu
Children's Pastor
Lisa is a joy to be around and work with. She loves everyone and everything especially little people and her Labrador, Ella. She has realized God's call on her life to serve the church with her experience, gifts, and talents with children and has been dedicated to seeing others encounter Jesus in their own lives. Lisa has 2 grown daughters, a son-in-law, and two beautiful grandchildren.

Awlwyn Balnave
Interim Care & Visitation Pastor
Awlwyn was born and brought up in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He studied in Scotland at Strathclyde University before working in the Food Industry as a microbiologist at a plant outside Glasgow. Following this he moved back to Northern Ireland, where he lectured and engaged in research in food technology at a local college. Awlwyn married Pauline in 1974. They have a son, a daughter, and three grandchildren. The family emigrated to Alberta in 1982 where he worked in quality assurance in the food industry. He entered into Pastoral ministry in 1988 after further studies at Regent College in Vancouver. His hobbies include reading, sports, and travel. Awlwyn and Pauline live in Maple Ridge.

Fiona Lai
Communications & Engagement Manager
Fiona is passionate about helping others grow in their faith and experience the love of Jesus through church involvement. In her free time, she enjoys her garden, walking with her morkie, trying new recipes, and spending time with her husband and two kids. A UBC graduate in Fine Arts and English Literature, Fiona feels blessed to be part of the this vibrant and beautiful community.

Sarah Paul
Office Manager
Sarah is our resident foodie, with a deep appreciation for music and travel. She and her husband were both born and raised in White Rock, and are grateful to be able to raise their two children in the community in which they grew up. Sarah loves the adventures and challenges that come with being a building manager, and greatly enjoys the interpersonal interactions that are a key part of her role at the church. Fun fact: Sarah attended the WRBC youth group in the '90s.

Trevor Kuntz
Reception
Trevor is the friendly face you'll see at reception, always ready to help with a smile and a dad joke! When he’s not assisting with photocopying, or processing payments during office hours, Trevor is busy behind the scenes with all things tech and AV. He’s the mastermind behind our highlight videos, capturing the moments that matter most. A big fan of the colour blue, Trevor is passionate about ensuring everything runs smoothly with both people and technology. Whether you need assistance or just a good laugh, Trevor’s your guy!

Gary Lai
Board Chair
Gary has been attending WRBC since 2015 and became a member in 2017. He has been serving as Board Chair since 2022 after his time in the Stewardship Ministry and Policy & Framework. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Richmond, BC, Gary accepted Christ during an Alpha retreat in 2001 and has since found deep value in being part of a healthy church community. He has been a healthcare professional in the community since 2004. Gary enjoys spending time outdoors, camping, cooking, and relaxing at the beach with his wife, their two kids, and their dog.

Brianna Anderson
Board Secretary
Brianna Anderson serves on the church board as the church clerk. Professionally she is a nurse lead, coordinating the immunization program for health authority staff. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Peter, and their three young boys. Brianna became a Christian at age 9 and has been actively involved in church service ever since, saying, “I love Jesus and love serving Him.”

John Block
Treasurer
John and his wife Rose have been attending WRBC since 2017 and became members in 2019. After retiring from a career in real estate construction and land development, John and Rose have been very involved in various local charities that are committed to support the most vulnerable in our community including Sources Community Resources, Peace Arch Hospice society, Volunteer Cancer Drivers, City Care Dental and the Semiahmoo Rotary club.

Arthur Xu
Arthur made his confession of faith in Jesus in 2003 and was baptized in 2004, serving in a house church in China until 2020. He and his wife, Sunny, have been married for 36 years and have a daughter and son-in-law, both of whom became Christians as teenagers. Arthur retired after running an international seafood trading business and became a member of WRBC in 2021, feeling called to help shepherd newcomers from Asia and integrate them into the church community.
Arthur 于2003年秋天公开信仰耶稣,并于2004年夏天受洗。从那时起,他一直在中国的一个家庭教会服事,直到2020年。Arthur 和他的妻子 Sunny 已结婚36年,他们有一个女儿和女婿,两人都是青少年时信主的。Arthur 曾经营国际海鲜贸易业务,现已退休。他于2019年中期来到WRBC,并于2021年春季成为教会成员,他感到自己被呼召帮助教会更好地牧养来自亚洲的新移民,并帮助他们融入教会社区。

Jane Cowie
Jane grew up in southern Ontario and decided to follow Jesus as a teenager through a camping ministry. After over 50 years of walking with Jesus, she continues to discern His will for her life. As the wife of Ward, a pastor for 35 years, Jane has a deep appreciation for the church and its role in the lives of believers. In retirement, she volunteers at the Cloverdale Community Kitchen, stays active at the gym, and loves spending time with her family, especially babysitting her granddaughter in Nanaimo.
