Fihima Update

August 20, 2020

Just as life has been interrupted for each of us, this has also happened to Fihima.  Just one year ago we were preparing for her arrival from a refugee camp. She arrived at the end of September, and was taking English classes four days a week before the Covid shutdown interrupted classes. She has just started meeting one-on-one with her teacher twice a week for one hour. It¹s not much, but it¹s better than nothing! She continues to be in contact with her sons living in Djabuti, which is a blessing, but also a concern as she worries about them. Because of Covid, like all of us,  Fihima has not been able to take part in local Somali events or visit with friends. As well, she has had some health concerns. (She is now on thyroid and reflux medication.) Pastor Brian and Fay Puddicombe recently visited Fihima and she expressed her appreciation for our church's ongoing financial support and care. Please continue to pray for her, she does appreciate it!

New Home

Fihima has moved into a new basement suite and it's lovely. She is so pleased to be in a Somali home.

Refugee Sponsorship Update

Thank you so much! Fihima’s immediate needs have been met. Thanks for all the gifts and gift cards. You answered the appeal in such a wonderful way.

For now, the best thing is to donate through your offering to the account from which her rent and other expenses will be paid. Just mention ‘refugee support’ on your gift.

Thanks to those who have offered rides. We are sorting out her schedule and will contact you to see if/when you can assist.
