The Lord’s Prayer / Psalm 23 Challenge!

March 30, 2020.

Hi Everyone

The challenge is on!!! Here’s a video of Lily Rahardjo saying the Lord’s Prayer. (Click here to watch) Way to go Lily!! Please send me videos of your kids if they memorize the Lord’s Prayer or Psalm 23 and I’d love to post them on the blog. And here’s a picture of Sarah and Elijah doing ‘church at home’ watching one of the worship videos I posted. (Left) Things like this make my heart so full of joy.

We may be apart physically but we’re working on ways to still stay connected. Please send me an email with suggestions of ways we can help and support you through this season.

Love you all.

Hi Parents,

With the extra time we’ve been given, memorizing Bible verses is a great thing to do together as a family.

Wouldn’t it be cool if all the kids memorized The Lord’s Prayer and Psalm 23?!!!!!

These are fantastic truths to be hidden in our hearts.

The Lord’s Prayer Matthew 6:9-13

9 “This is how you should pray. " 'Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored. 10 May your kingdom come. May what you want to happen be done on earth as it is done in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our sins,  just as we also have forgiven those who sin against us. 13 Keep us from sinning when we are tempted. Save us from the evil one.'"

Psalm 23

1 The Lord is my shepherd. He gives me everything I need.  2 He lets me lie down in fields of green grass.

He leads me beside quiet waters.  3 He gives me new strength. He guides me in the right paths for the honor of his name. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid. You are with me.

Your shepherd’s rod and staff comfort me. 5 You prepare a feast for me right in front of my enemies.

You pour oil on my head. My cup runs over. 6 I am sure that your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life. And I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

Video From Ferris

Ferris made this video for his small group and it’s so awesome, I just had to share it with everyone. I have NO IDEA how he did it.

Hi Parents,

I needed to take a mental break yesterday so I didn’t post anything. Sunday night the reality of this situation really hit me and I had a good, long cry. I cried for everyone who is sick. I cried for everyone who has lost a loved one to the horrible virus. I cried for the uncertainty we’re all feeling and for how much I miss you guys and my other friends and family.

I was feeling afraid, really afraid. And I’m so thankful God reminded me that it’s not a sin to feel afraid even though He tells us about 365 times, in the Bible, that we don’t have to be afraid. And even though I truly believe, with all my heart, that God is still in control of everything, it would be wrong of me to act like everything is okay. The pathway out of fear Is to acknowledge it to God and allow Him to take it from us and carry us through whatever scary situation we’re facing.

Why can those of us, who love Jesus, have a distinct demeanor and help to share hope even when we feel afraid?

1st: Because we have the hope of heaven

2nd: Because we know our Heavenly Father cares about us

3rd: Because we know our Heavenly Father will provide all we need

4th: Because we can keep His Kingdom as our top priority

If you’re feeling anxious, and we all are at times, here are some great reminders.

1st: Focus on what you can do

2nd: Talk to someone about it and pray together

3rd: Say 5-4-3-2-1, then pause and.........

-Focus on 5 things around you

-Touch (or pretend to touch) 4 things around you (and then wash your hands 😉)

     -Listen for 3 different sounds

     -Taste 2 different things

     -Smell 1 smell

(This will just help you to relax and refocus)

4th: Only listen to reliable sources for information and restrict how much you watch

5th: Get outside (but still keep your distance from others)

6th: Find humour and laugh

7th: Get adequate sleep

I miss you all, I’m praying for you and I keep thinking of the celebration we’re going to have once we can all be together again. Please tell your kids I love them and can’t wait to see them!!

We’ll get through this together and our world is going to be so much better after this is all over.

Please help stop the spread of the virus by staying home.

Love Lisa
