March 13, 2020
Given the current concerns and recommendations regarding the impact and affect of the Corona virus, the board and staff of White Rock Baptist Church believe it to be the wisest course of action to cancel church services and events at church for the next two weeks. This means there will be no gatherings at church on Sunday the 15th and 22nd of March. This includes Sunday school, youth, and children’s choir on those weekends. We will reassess during the week of the 23rd of March and communicate thereafter again.
We have a diverse spread of individuals who call WRBC home, including those who are deemed to be vulnerable in the midst of this pandemic. Out of care for them we believe that the morally right choice is the difficult one of cancelling our services.
As far as life groups are concerned, we are encouraging life groups to continue meeting, but to self-assess their meetings. We acknowledge that some groups include vulnerable individuals who may wish not to meet together. We would also encourage life groups to look out for, and care for, those members who may need to self-isolate. While caring for others, don’t forget about those members who may not be in a life group.
While our gatherings are cancelled, the church office will remain open to serve our community. Should you have any questions or concerns, you are welcome to email or call the office. Please note that messages left after hours will only be responded to the following day.
We encourage you all to keep praying for those affected by this pandemic, as well as to pray for our leaders who have to make the toughest of decisions in this season.
Grace and peace to you all,
Brian Louw (on behalf of the board and staff)
