WRBC Life Group Challenge - Feed the Starving in Zimbabwe

by  J & D Kirkley, J & D Adrian, J & D Gauntley , J & B Kaiser and B. Scott

We recently completed a study of “Fifty-Seven Words That Change The World” a journey through the Lord’s Prayer by Darrell Johnson.

As we focused on “Give us this day our daily bread”, it became apparent we are all well provided for physically but we were challenged by a Latin American prayer that says “O God, to those who have hunger give bread; and to those who have bread give the hunger for justice.” We were reminded of Jesus saying that when we feed the hungry we are doing it for him and to him.

We had to do something about this. We contacted Susan Janetti of Zimbabwe Gecko fame and asked if we could help.

Susan told us that indeed there was an urgent need, because of the current severe drought in Zimbabwe:

Susan has the ability to purchase maize meal at $500 per ton. Each ton will supply 3,000 meals! Incredible! We responded with a combined donation of $2,200, or enough for four tons of maize.

But we want to share the blessing we received in seeing pictures of the Maize being delivered within two days of promising Susan the money.

We have challenged the Life groups in writing to join us in this blessing to the people of Zimbabwe. If another Life Group raises more than we have, we will treat them to a dinner when the LockDown is over.

If you would like to donate to Zimbabwe Gecko to help feed people in Zimbabwe …..

To donate by cheque: drop a cheque off at the church office or contact Susan at 604 531 3654 or
