White Rock Baptist Church is governed by its membership, who elects a volunteer Board of Deacons to oversee the ministry of the church. The staff team includes pastors and other staff members who support and oversee day-to-day ministry activities. Below is a listing of our Board and Staff - if you want to find out more about any part of WRBC's ministry, contact the church office and we will direct your call to the right person.
I have been a member at White Rock Baptist for over 10 years. During that time I have been involved in various children's ministries. I am married to Jennifer and we have 4 children. I am thankful in how the Lord continues to bless me and my family. It is a privilege to serve WRBC and the community. I enjoy camping, sports, running and photography.
While camping in White Rock in 2013, we located WRBC and were greeted with open arms and friendly smiles. When we moved here from Edmonton 2 years later, it was just natural for us to return to a church that we knew preached a true gospel. I first came to faith in 1992 through a Saturday Night outreach service. I was baptized about a year later and became involved in Bible studies, leading kids groups, and an inner-city mission. Carolyn and I met in the church and were married in 2000. We later joined Meadowlands Baptist Church where I became very involved in their moving ministry, church plays, choir and Bible studies. When MBC began a church plant a few years later, we felt called to be involved and became members of the newly established Foundation Baptist Church. Since our move to BC, we have been attending WRBC on a regular basis and have recently applied for membership. I have been active in the church in ushering/greeting, life group, summer kids camp, gym renovation, and kitchen help. My desire is to serve the Lord as a part of this wonderful family of believers.
Associate Pastor to Adults
I am so thankful to have the opportunity to serve at White Rock Baptist alongside such wonderful people! Living in the Lower Mainland is a new adventure for our family, as we spent the previous nine years enjoying the close-knit community of Pincher Creek, AB. My husband, Al, and I were married in December 2000 and have four children: two daughters and two sons. My call to full-time ministry has emerged gradually over the last several years as a result of my increasing church involvement and my studies in the M.Div program at Carey Theological College. Like Pastor Dave, I also have a Bachelor of Religious Education from Canadian Bible College (now Ambrose). I love reading, art, and enjoying cups of tea with friends, and I am especially passionate about supporting those who are suffering and encouraging people to go deeper in their relationship with God and with others around them.
I was the Associate Pastor (Youth & Young Adults) at First Baptist Church, Peace River, AB for 10 years before moving to serve in White Rock Baptist Church as the Associate Pastor to Families.
I was educated at Canadian Bible College (now Ambrose University College) where I received a B. Rel. Ed. degree and am currently enrolled in the M. Div. program at Carey Theological College. I have extensive experience in ministering to young people both inside the church and outside in the community. I have led 4 missions trips abroad, most recently leading a team in April to Jamaica.
I am married to Katherine and at the end of August 2013 the Lord blessed us with a son, John David. In September 2015 we were blessed with the addition of our second child, Zoe Katherine. I enjoy good coffee, the outdoors, and whatever adventure opportunity that may come my way.
My husband, Bob, and I have attended WRBC since 1991. I accepted Christ at the ages of 12 or 13, and was baptized by Rev. Dr. Benny Jones in Red Deer where I atended Red Deer College before transferring to the University of Alberta (U of A) in Edmonton to copmlete a B.Sc. degree. Initially I worked as Librarian in several Special Libraries, then in 1980 was introduced to the concepts of Records Management. After working part-time in this field, I returned to the U of A to complete a B.A. in order to qualify for Graduate Studies in the UBC Masters of Archival Science (MAS) program; I defended my thesis in 1991. Many of my courses focused on corporate organization theory, the creation, use, and disposition of records, and learning the guiding principles of legal systems and the ensuing legislation. I have served WRBC in various capacities over the years including Deacon, Church Secretary, Church Clerk, Usher, Friday Friendship kitchen team worker, committee member, and volunteer.
I am a life long Pastor who retired from full-time ministry at White Rock Baptist and have received the honorary title of Pastor Emeritus - acknowledging my life long service in ministry.
I am responsible for the financial matters of the church, maintenance of the church facility and supervision of the office staff. I serve on the Deacon’s Board, Stewardship Ministry and the Human Resources Ministry. It has been my privilege to serve in this capacity since 1999.
My wife Johanna and I feel very blessed to be part of this family of believers. We host a Life Group in our home and it has been an enriching experience for us.
I am a registered nurse working full time at Peace Arch Hospital. I have been a member of WRBC for 20 years with my husband, Roger, and ouir children, Anne and Ian. During this time I have held a number of positions including chair of youth ministry, chair of spiritual growth ministry, assisted with Alpha, volunteered for What’s Happening Wednesdays, developed and led a group focused on Healthy Lifestyles, member of new comers lunch group, Chair of a Youth pastor search committee, member of Life Group ministry, served on the Stewardship ministry and chair of Children’s ministry. I bring a long history of working in church ministry and am pleased to be considered for the Deacons Board. I bring a practical perspective and would like to help make WRBC grow in grace.
Deacon - Church Clerk
I have been a member of WRBC for over 10 years and have already served one term as church clerk, back when I first moved here. I moved my parents from Victoria into Westminster House in 2001 and they began attending WRBC, having been members at Emmanuel Baptist in Victoria. I worked in Yorkton, SK, for a couple of years and then moved back to be with my mother after my dad died in 2004 . That December, I began work at Carey Theological College in the Registrar's office. I retired from Carey in December 2014 and am now enjoying retirement doing what the Lord gives me to do.
I am married to Cindy and we have two children. I write an on-line blog (www.brianlouw.com). Here's a quote from one of the postings: "I marvel at the "WITHNESS" of God. Sure, that's not a word, but it should be! Your Heavenly Father longs to be with you. Have you noticed this? I haven't studied all the religions of the world, but the difference I see between true Christianity and the ones I have studied, is the fact that our God wants to be with His people and actively seeks them out. He stops at nothing to be with us. in fact, we see this truth throughout scripture."
I have been a member of WRBC since 1991, upon moving to the area. Since 2000, I have been working for WorldServe Ministries (a non-profit Christian ministry founded in 1976). My two young adult sons grew up in this church/community. I have been involved in various ministries over the years: children's programs, Morning Out for Moms, Bible studies, youth, seniors, Board of Deacons, Spiritual Growth ministry, Congregational Care ministry and Missions. What a privilege and joy it is to be a part of ministry work in this church/community.
Deacon - Board Chair
I grew up in Vancouver where I lived before moving to White Rock 25 years ago. I spent 32 years with the Vancouver School Board (VSB) teaching and administrating at the elementary level. Three of those years were on loan of service to the Canadian Department of National Defense (DND) in the mid 1970’s where I taught Protestant Christianity to the children of our Canadian Armed Forces on Base Baden-Sollingen in Germany.
A year after retiring from the VSB I was asked to be the principal of Lions Gate Christian Academy (LGCA) in North Vancouver where I served for 10 years. For the past 7 years I have been on the Board of LGCA. I served for 6 years on the Independent School Teachers Certification Committee making recommendations to the BC Ministry of Education’s Inspector of Independent Schools regarding granting of teaching certificates and the discipline of certified teachers. He also has done some consulting for the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) working with Administrators in BC Christian schools and have served on Evaluation Committees evaluating Public and Independent Schools.
I grew up in the Brethren Assemblies, attended Marineview Chapel for 28 years, served on the Elder Board there as chair, was involved in pre-marriage counseling with my wife and in officiating at weddings and funerals. I also served as a director of Calling Foundation and Daybreak Point Bible Camp. After moving to White Rock I attended Peace Arch Fellowship MB for 14 years and served on the Board of Elders as chair and moderator. When Peace Arch Fellowship amalgamated with Panorama Ridge MB my wife, Eleanor, and i moved to White Rock Baptist. My grandmother served for 45 years as a deaconess at First Baptist Church in Vancouver and one of my uncles served there as pastor. My mother was Pastor Ralston’s secretary at Alta Vista Baptist Church in Burnaby. I am currently on the Board of Grace Ministries Canada that supports a ministry in India.
I am excited to see what God has planned for my time here. By God's direction, I hope to lead, have fellowship, socialize, mentor and have fun with the young adults, youth, and children of WRBC.
I recently married the love of my life, Emily, whom I met at Briercrest College. I am passionate about music (Musical Theatre & Opera), teaching and cooking (and eating). I also like to snowboard, watch movies, hang out with friends and keep active through sports such as volleyball, basketball, soccer, football, tennis and even golf. I enjoy playing my old school Nintendo, going camping, swimming in lakes, or just soaking up the sun at the beach while knitting or reading a book. And, sometimes you will even hear me sing a tune or two.
White Rock Baptist has been my home church since 1994. It has been a second home and an extended family for me and my twin daughters who are now 20. I have always loved volunteering in Kids' Ministries and was given the opportunity to join the staff as the Coordinator of Children's Ministries in January of 2007. I have a passion for children and nothing makes me happier than sharing the love of Jesus with them. It has been a joy for me to watch these kids grow in their relationship with the Lord. I am very thankful for the team of volunteers I am privileged to work with and the incredible kids God has brought to our church.
Besides children, I also love dogs, spending time with my family and friends, reading, walking and watching hockey both Vancouver Canucks and Surrey Eagles!
Deacon - Treasurer
My wife and I have been WRBC members since 2006. I initially came to know the Lord in my early twenties and have pursued spiritual growth in the many years since. I sought to reflect this commmitment in a career in business management education and leadership training. I have served in various capacities at WRBC - as Stewardship Chairperson, lifegroups training, By-laws Committee Chairperson and continue to assist as coffee-server, usher, Deacon (Treasurer) and a frequent volunteer at many different church events including the summer soccer camp, family seminars and garage sales. I am committed to helping the church successfully adapt to many changes as it moves foward in challenging times.
